Founder & President“Growing up, my family didn't have the financial resources to send me to college, but through a program similar to Mask Off Foundation, I received the mentorship and support that changed the trajectory of my life. During my time at the University of Virginia, I realized that preparing students for higher education is about more than academics, it also requires investing in their mental, emotional, and overall well-being. That experience inspired me to create Mask Off Foundation so young women in Houston can receive the academic guidance, mentorship, and wellness resources they need to succeed, making college not only an attainable goal but a journey they are equipped to navigate with confidence. ”

Our story began with the recognition that while some students enter the school year feeling prepared and supported, many face barriers that impact their confidence and future opportunities. Founded from lived experience and a passion for educational equity, Mask Off Foundation exists to empower underserved young women of color through mentorship, college readiness, psychological support and community. We believe that when students are equipped with the right support they gain the confidence to overcome barriers and build brighter futures.

Founder’s Story
Marlee Morgan
My journey to higher education was filled with excitement, but also uncertainty. As a first-generation college student, leaving home to attend an out-of-state university, I stepped into a world I had no experience in. I wasn't just learning how to succeed academically , I was navigating an entirely new environment. There were unspoken expectations, unfamiliar systems, financial questions, and the emotional weight of being far from home while trying to build a future for myself and my family.
College ultimately became one of the most transformative experiences of my life. It exposed me to people from different cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives who challenged me, encouraged me, and expanded what I believed was possible for my future. The opportunities, relationships, and confidence I gained didn't just impact me, they continue to impact my family and my community.
That experience inspired me to create Mask Off Foundation so that other young women of color, don't have to navigate that journey alone. We exist to equip them with the knowledge, resources, mentorship, confidence, and community they need to approach higher education and truly believe that they belong in every room they step into.

Who We Serve
Mask Off serves ambitious young women of color who are committed to building a future through higher education and are ready to grow through mentorship, preparation, and opportunity.
Young women in underserved communities often face systemic barriers that limit their access to higher education, even when they have the work ethic and ambition to succeed. Many lack the mentorship, resources, and guidance needed to navigate the path to college confidently.
Our intention is to bridge that gap starting with 9th graders allowing us to lay a strong academic, emotional, and leadership foundation at a pivotal moment. By engaging students early, we aim to equip them with the tools, confidence, and support they need to pursue higher education.
